14 October 2017, Saturday. Nabi Musa to Mar Saba

This walk begins in the desert east of Jerusalem near Nabi Musa, where tradition holds that the prophet Moses is buried, and concludes at Mar Saba, a Greek Orthodox desert monastery.  Mar Saba is among the most ancient and wondrous desert monasteries in the Holy Land, but women have not been allowed into Mar Saba for fifteen centuries and will have to admire the monastery from over its exterior walls.


With little shade, the strenuous walk from near Nabi Musa to Mar Saba will prove challenging, yet is guaranteed to be rewarding.  This hike is not recommended for those who suffer from vertigo, nor those who are afraid of heights.

At least 3-4 liters of water and snacks/food for the hike
